No dev-shop handoffs
The people who plan your growth are the people writing the code — one team, one P&L, one accountability. No throwing a spec over the wall to an offshore shop and hoping it comes back right.
Scope your build →Most agencies outsource development or fake it. RiseUp actually builds it — the custom apps, integrations and automations that off-the-shelf can't do, owned outright by you, engineered to cut platform cost and unlock growth. Production software from a certified Shopify Partner that also ships real software for itself.
Off-the-shelf apps stack up: a subscription for reviews, another for feeds, another for email, each billing every month and each boxing you into someone else's roadmap. A custom build works the other way — you own it outright, it fits your stack exactly, and it stops charging you rent the day it ships.
Off-the-shelf is rented. Code you own is an asset — it fits your business exactly and stops charging you rent.
Most agencies outsource development, or fake it. The handoffs — and the fakery — are where builds die.
The people who plan your growth are the people writing the code — one team, one P&L, one accountability. No throwing a spec over the wall to an offshore shop and hoping it comes back right.
Scope your build →Marketing and engineering under one roof, so the software actually serves the numbers — builds that make your marketing perform and cut platform cost, not a shiny MVP that never earns its keep.
Scope your build →RiseUp runs its own production software — an internal client-operations platform for creative intelligence and reporting. We ship the same standard we sell, so you know it's real, not resold.
Scope your build →From a public Shopify app to a warehouse integration to the data pipeline behind your reporting — eight capabilities, all engineered in-house.
Embedded, public App Store or private single-store apps — built to Shopify's standards on OAuth, scopes, billing and webhooks, so they pass review and hold up in production.
02Connect Shopify to the systems you already run — ERP, CRM, 3PL and warehouse — so orders, stock and customers stay in sync without manual re-keying.
03Custom APIs, webhook handlers and middleware that move data reliably between platforms in real time — with retries, logging and monitoring built in, not bolted on.
04Klaviyo integrations and automated flows wired to real store events — reviews, purchases, gifting, win-back — so the right message fires without anyone lifting a finger.
05Pipelines that pull, clean and combine data from Shopify, ads and analytics into one trustworthy source — the plumbing behind reporting you can actually act on.
06Hydrogen and React front ends on the Storefront API where there's a real case for it — total design control and speed, without breaking the checkout that converts.
07Replace a costly third-party app with a self-hosted build you own, or re-platform off an expensive stack — we model the payback before we write a single line of code.
08Owned code doesn't mean orphaned code — we keep apps current with Shopify's dated API versions and deprecations, and monitor webhooks and uptime, so nothing breaks silently.
A merchant was quietly paying a third-party app around £1,125 a month — roughly £13,500 a year — to do one job. We built a self-hosted replacement that does the same job, deployed it, and handed over the code. Same outcome, a fraction of the cost, and no subscription that never ends. That's growth engineering: technology that pays for itself instead of taxing every order.
Real builds, led by the outcome — not a screenshot.
From a clear spec to live software you own — and it doesn't stop at launch.
We map what you're trying to do, tell you honestly whether custom is the right call, and turn it into a clear spec with a fixed scope, timeline and price.
AI-assistedWe design the data model, integrations and infrastructure, then write production-grade code — to Shopify's standards on scopes, billing and webhooks.
AI-acceleratedWe connect it to your stack — ERP, CRM, 3PL, Klaviyo — test it hard, deploy, and hand over the code and repositories in full.
Fully testedWe keep it current with Shopify's API versions and deprecations, monitor uptime and webhooks, and iterate — owned code, not orphaned code.
MonitoredNo open-ended dev project that never quite ends. Here's roughly how a build goes from a conversation to live software you own.
We pin down exactly what you need, the integrations involved and how you'll own it — then agree a fixed scope, timeline and price.
You see a working version early — the core app or integration doing its job — so we steer against something real, not a document.
We wire it into your stack, handle the edge cases, add logging and monitoring, and test it hard against real data.
We deploy, hand over the code and repositories in full, and move onto support — keeping it current as Shopify changes.
So the software we engineer, the marketing driving traffic to it and the data measuring it all pull in the same direction — one team, one P&L, one source of truth.

Both. We build private (custom) apps installed on a single merchant's store, and public apps distributed through the Shopify App Store — plus embedded apps that live inside the Shopify admin. Most of our work is custom apps that do a specific job for one merchant: a self-hosted replacement for a costly third-party app, a reviews-to-rewards engine, a Google Shopping feed cleaner, locale-native transactional email. If you're weighing public versus private, we'll tell you which route actually fits your goal rather than defaulting to whichever is quicker to build.
Yes — we build to Shopify's requirements from the start. We're a certified Shopify Partner, so we know what the review team checks: OAuth and permission scopes, GDPR and mandatory webhooks, performance, correct Billing API usage and the App Store listing requirements. For public App Store apps we build against those standards and handle the submission; private and custom apps aren't listed, so review doesn't apply — but we hold them to the same engineering bar. Either way you're not gambling on a rebuild after a rejection.
You do. Everything we build for you is yours — source code, repositories and infrastructure — handed over in full. That's the whole point of a custom build: instead of renting a third-party app forever, you own an asset outright. We can host and maintain it for you, or hand it to your own team; there's no lock-in and no per-month licence tax on software you paid us to build.
Shopify ships breaking changes on a schedule — API versions are dated and older ones are retired, and checkout moved to Checkout Extensibility and Functions. We keep your app current: pinning and upgrading API versions, tracking deprecations, monitoring webhooks and uptime, and patching before something breaks. You can take a support-and-maintenance retainer so it's handled continuously, or we document everything and hand it to your team. Owned code doesn't have to mean orphaned code.
Often, yes. Third-party apps bill every month forever, and the bill usually scales with your orders — so an app quietly charging a four-figure sum each year can be replaced by a self-hosted one you own for a one-off build cost. We did exactly this for a merchant: replaced a third-party app that was quietly charging around £1,125 a month with a self-hosted build we own outright, saving roughly £13,500 a year. Not every app is worth replacing — we'll model the payback honestly and only recommend it where the maths works.
Sometimes — but not by default. Headless (Hydrogen and React on Shopify's Storefront API, or another front end) buys you total design control and can help performance, but it adds engineering cost and ongoing maintenance that many merchants don't need. For most stores a well-built theme with a fast, extended checkout performs just as well for far less. We'll give you a straight answer on whether headless will actually move your numbers, or whether the budget is better spent elsewhere.
A wide range on and around Shopify: a self-hosted app that replaced a costly third-party one, a reviews-to-rewards engine (reviews in, automated reward codes and email out), a Google Shopping feed engine that cleans product data and fixes recurring Merchant Center rejections, locale-native transactional email with a post-purchase gifting engine, and a multi-store integration layer that lets a team manage many Shopify stores from one place. We also connect Shopify to ERP, CRM, 3PL and warehouse systems, and to marketing tools like Klaviyo — via APIs, webhooks and data pipelines.
It depends on scope — a focused integration or feed tool can be a couple of weeks, while a full custom app with integrations is measured in months. We scope and price every project up front, as a fixed piece of work rather than an open-ended hourly bill, and larger builds ship in stages so you see a working version early. It all starts with a free build consult: we look at what you're trying to do, tell you honestly whether custom is the right call, and come back with a clear scope, timeline and price.
